Wed 22 Oct 2008 – Alasdair Roberts (Drag City). @ The Whisky, Union Quay - €8 on door
An amazing Scottish folk singer and guitarist of hybrid Fomorian and Etruscan stock from The Drag City roster, and the founder member of Appendix Out. He was also a part of Amalgamated Sons of Rest, which was a one-off record along with American songwriters Will Oldham and Jason Molina.

"We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework, to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles - anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes..."
They will be in Cork showing us some of their greatest finds over last 7 years
It will be in the form of spoken word and occasional song,
and for anyone who wants to do something that doesn't involve found stuff
the opening act will be a sword-swallower.

Make the most of your Sundays
If mixtapes were a live event this would be it: 5 acts such as Annette Buckley, Ruby Apples and Maeve Boyd, who in alternative universe would be really famous. A celebration of music, both live and recorded. In between the bands, Kieran O'Keefe will be DJ-ing. There will be a full fair trade coffee and cakes selection, so that Monday morning won't be too hard on you!
